HR West: March 6-8, 2017
HR West is held every March and hosted by the Northern California HR Association (NCHRA). The NCHRA serves over 20,000 members of the HR community in Northern California through hosted events and subscriptions. With an average attendance around 750, HR West is a relatively small conference, which allows participants to focus on networking and education.
HR West is uniquely informal. Exhibitors showcase in the hallways where sessions are located, rather than in a separated exhibit hall. This allows the exhibitors to easily attend and contribute to sessions.
Over half of the HR professionals attending HR West have been in the industry for 16 years or more. The intimacy of the conference, its well-regarded educational sessions and speakers, and networking opportunities have made HR West one of the top HR Conferences for many years. Add to that the location – the San Francisco Bay Area—and HR West becomes a tough conference to beat.
WorkHuman: May 30-June 1, 2017
A relative newcomer to the HR tech scene, the WorkHuman Conference, hosted by globoforce, focuses on inspiration, workplace diversity and company culture. The lack of an expo hall makes WorkHuman a conference that HR tech companies can send a rep or two to without a significant event budget.
Speakers at the WorkHuman expand beyond the usual HR realm, making this a popular conference for attendees looking to think outside the box. Networking opportunities abound, and the desert location of Phoenix, Arizona makes for a sunny escape.
SHRM Annual Conference & Expo: June 18-21, 2017
SHRM is the epicenter of the HR conference universe, with over 15,000 HR professionals attending. A large conference, jam-packed full of events, attendees find themselves scrambling to see everything they want to see. If you’re looking for one conference to spend your marketing event budget on, this is probably the one. The large expo hall gives your company the chance to display videos and promotional materials at their best.
With over 200 sessions, the large crowd, and the huge conference hall, SHRM is perfect for both education, networking, and direct sales. This year the conference host city is New Orleans, which should make this year’s conference uniquely entertaining.
California HR Conference: August 28-30, 2017
California HR is the premier HR conference for Southern California. 2017 will be the 60thyear of the conference, which has reputation for excellence in professional development. California HR has a heavy focus on regulations that affect HR professionals. There are also a concentration of sessions exploring employee benefits, diversity, and talent management. Average attendance at California HR approaches 2,500, so HR tech companies can reach a significant audience at this conference with a booth in the PIHRA Marketplace.
HR Technology: October 10-13, 2017
HR Technology is again poised as one of the largest gatherings of HR professionals again this year. Although the conference is called HR Technology, its focus is on the products and solutions that drive the success of HR technology, not necessarily the technology itself.
HR Technology is being hosted at the Venetian in Las Vegas, which adds to the sizzle of the conference. In its 20th year, HR Tech is a stalwart in the HR circuit.
This conference showcases many of the latest products and solutions in the HR industry, presented by companies across the U.S. In addition to SHRM, HR Technology is a must-go for software exhibitors. Cloud-based software, SaaS, and social solutions look to be in vogue this year. Attendance at HR Technology was around 8,500 in 2016, with similar numbers expected for the 2017 conference.
HR Southwest Conference: October 16-19, 2017
In its 76th year, HR Southwest is another premier regional HR conference. A boutique conference with over 2200 attendees, HR Southwest is a great conference to attend for in-depth conversations with HR partners in the region. It’s also an opportunity to earn both SHRM and HRCI certifications in a setting that’s less hectic than the larger conferences. If you are a HR professional in Texas or the surrounding states, don’t overlook this well-regarded show.
