2001 Called, They Want Their Browser Back (IE6)

On August 27th, 2001, a web browser named Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) was officially introduced to the world. At it’s peak, IE6 commanded 95% of the market. As we approach IE6’s 10-year anniversary, it currently has an 11% market share worldwide (under 2.5% in the US). The time has come to retire this browser and move to something faster and more secure. Microsoft has even created a web site, “The Internet Explorer 6 Countdown,” dedicated to helping people move off of IE6.
There are a number of reasons to move away from IE6. The most significant benefits include improved speed, tabbed browsing, privacy settings, and better compatibility with modern web technologies. IE6 presents unique challenges to web developers, and supporting IE6 often leads to longer development cycles, and significant delays in testing applications.
NETtime currently supports a wide number of browsers, including some of the older browsers like IE6 and IE5. As we continue to develop innovative SaaS solutions, future versions of NETtime will not support these legacy browsers. There are no plans to discontinue support of IE6 in the current version of NETtime.
If you, or someone you know is using an old web browser, there are a number of great browser alternatives available. This list includes IE8, IE9, FireFox 3.x and 4.x, Chrome and Safari, to name a few. Remember, “Friends don’t let friends use Internet Explorer 6”. That is a direct quote from Microsoft’s website, when the company that produces a product tells you not to use it, it is time for a change. Talk to your IT Department, or visit Microsoft’s IE6 Countdown site mentioned above.
